I’ll be the first to admit this weeks blog and slideshow may be a little lack lustre. Well I mean visually for all of you. Terrible weather means no amazing sunsets, no amazing landscapes, minimal drone footage and just those standard tourist snaps. So this week meant wineries, cafes, restaurants, brewery’s and catching up with family. So what does this mean…. awesome week for us with the weather a shock to the system!! Not that exciting slideshow below!! Although…. there is some ‘over 60’s’ bus chair dancing (sorry Mum and dad) that may take your interest in the video below!)
Day 65: chris surprised me and organised a family shoot in Perth for when Mum and dad came to visit. It rained ALL morning and the weather cleared just when we had the photos taken so we totally scored.! We were even getting phone calls from back home as the weather warnings in Perth were horrific! The kids were hilarious and kept up appearances of being absolute champs at photo shoots. Harry said to the photographer ‘you think I’m cute don’t you!’ .. wow! And the photographer asked Matilda and I to put our noses together and she asked Matilda what mummy smelt like. She was totally looking for the answer of roses or perfume etc and Matilda says….. ‘champagne’!!! I think I may need to tally up some more alcohol free days. 🙄
Hair and make up spruce up was also great!
Day 66: day trip with Mum and dad to Cottesloe and Fremantle. I think the kids visited about 72 playgrounds on this day, Challenged only by the amount of brewery’s and cafes the adults could visit in one day. LOVED Perth, Fremantle, Scarborough and Cottesloe. Very different to what we have experienced so far on the trip and a beautiful part of the world.
The caravan parks in Perth and Busselton have been like a holiday on top of a holiday for the kids. Jumping pillows, heated pools, spas and tar roads for scooters and skateboards!!
Day 67: Perth to Busselton. Via Mandurah and Bunbury. Again loving these short trips to our next destination.
Day 68: What a beautiful part of the world. We explored Dunsborough and the coastline around to Yallinup. Walked the famous 1.8km jetty at Busselton. The train wasn’t running because it’s winter but the amount of cafe and brewery stops we have done I needed the walk! Talking about food, we had the good old hot chips on bread for lunch and found a nice little beach called castle rock. We were greeted by some not so friendly magpies but thought, how bad could it be, so we carried on with our lunch until in one foul swoop one of them literally took the chip out of the end of mums mouth and gave her a nip on the lip. She didn’t think it was very funny, the rest of us may of.
Day 68: Busselton to Margaret river. Stopped past yallinup maze for a bit of fun, then drove through the beautiful vineyards on route to Margaret river. It reminded me a lot of the hunter valley but so much greener. Dropped our van off at the Bushcamp we were staying at. Only ones there, awesome big site in the middle of the Forest and 5 minutes to the main st of Margaret river. First stop, cheeky monkey brewery. Massive playground for the kids, didn’t see them, and the first success on the way to restocking the wine supply. Quick 12 bottle purchase! Then we headed into the main st of Margaret river for dinner! Best upgrade yet was Mum and dad scoring a 7 seater. Well for chris and I!!
Day 69: lake cave, Augusta. It was spectacular. It boasts a crystal formation weighing several tonnes suspended from the ceiling. It is one of the deepest limestone caves on the ridge and you enter it via a large hole in the earths surface.
Day 70: My Birthday!! And I had a sneaking suspicion chris had something up his sleeve. Went for a nice breaky in the main st of Margaret river and then back to camp. Soon after this, our mini bus turns up with our legend Aaron our driver for the day. Such a lovely surprise and we all piled in had a ripper day. It’s awesome here how they have wineries and breweries combined. Best of both worlds. Some old school music cranking on the bus and 4 different vineyard stops. Best birthday with awesome people! Plus the wine cellar (I mean under the caravan bed) is looking pretty good for the trek across the Nullarbor!
Next blog… Pemberton, Walpole, Denmark and Albany!
